There are two 1-week sessions to choose from. You may attend only one.

Summer Academy dates are

Session1: June 7  to June 13, 2015 or

Session 2: June 14 to June 20, 2015.

The application is in the middle of the page. The selection process is competitive - all students will be notified by email of their status by April 17. Please make sure I can read your email address as all notifications are by email. If you do not have an email address, please provide a phone number.

The academy is FREE!!!

All students (including Stillwater residents) must stay in the dorms - there are no commuter options.

This academy is for students going into the 8th, 9th or 10th grades in the fall of 2015.

This academy's goal is to enhance students mathematical and scientific reasoning abilities. Students will learn basic concepts of research design and statistical concepts, data collection, survey design, observational research, computer use and presentation, learn more about careers in math and science, and foster a desire to attend college and pursue such careers.

During this one week long residential academy, they participate in activities from 9:00 to 5:00. Sessions consist of some lecture and computer skill acquisition; most of the time is spent putting their knowledge into action through hands-on learning experiences, including observational research, a survey design and administering exercise, and webpage design, as well as a visit to the Zoo to test hypotheses about animal behavior. Students  will also go on several field trips. Preliminary plans include OU-HSC, OSU-CHS, OSU Center for Veterinary Sciences, and/or Sam Noble Natural History Museum.

Activities also include the challenge course at Camp Redlands, Jeopardy, and movie nights. Students will stay in traditional college dorm rooms with 24 hour supervision by a graduate student and will be provided three meals a day. Students will prepare almost all of their meals.
