Teaching
Dr. Chaney teaches courses in pediatric psychology, family therapy, and the psychology of minorities. His clinical interests include family systems theory and narrative approaches to therapy.
Research
Dr. Chaney's research focuses on stress and coping influences on long-term adjustment in pediatric chronic illness and on attributional style, helplessness, and depression in adults with chronic illnesses. Dr. Chaney also studies academic achievement in American Indian students, implicit racial bias, and the social cognitive basis of using Native American images as sports mascots.
