Teaching

Dr. Leffingwell teaches abnormal psychology, behavior therapy and adult clinical practicum.

Research

Dr. Leffingwell's research investigates ambivalence in the behavior change process, including both social cognitive determinants and clinical interventions for resolving ambivalence and promoting behavior change. Behaviors of interest include health risk behaviors like substance use and physical activity. Interests also include motivational interviewing and the transtheoretical model. Clinical interests include cognitive-behavioral therapy for adults, substance abuse treatment, sport psychology and performance enhancement, empirically supported treatments and psychotherapy outcome research.
