Veterinary Medicine Psychological Services

About Vet Med Psychological Services (VMPS)

The OSU Vet Med Psychological Services (VMPS) is an outreach service of the Psychological Services Center and the Department of Psychology. Services are available to students who are currently enrolled at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. We provide a variety of psychology services that can be tailored to the needs of the students and can include the following:

  • Individual Counseling and Psychological Treatment
  • Group Therapy
  • Educational Seminars
  • Psychological Assessments (ADHD, learning disabilities, etc.)

On occasion, it may be determined that our services are not suited to provide care that is appropriate for an individual’s level of needs. If this occurs, we will work to locate a clinic or organization which will better meet the needs of the individual.

STAFF
The OSU VMPS psychology associates are doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology training program Neil Meyer, M.S., and Maddison Lynn, B.S., from the Department of Psychology at OSU. Matt Alderson, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology at OSU, provides supervision for the service.

FEES
All services will be billed for a flat rate of $5.00. Payment will be due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made with the clinician. Payments may be made in the form of check or credit card. The VMPS will be able to bill any services rendered to an individual’s bursar account with the university. The VMPS will be unable to accept cash. Inability to pay should not be a barrier to receiving services. If payment will create a burden, we encourage students to visit with us to negotiate an arrangement that will work.

LOCATION
Students can be seen at our office in McElroy Hall 105A. After hours appointments may be available and will be held at the Psychological Services Center in North Murray Hall. We would encourage you to contact us first for an appointment (see contact info below) rather than dropping in whenever possible.

HOURS OF OPERATION
Hours will generally be held on Mondays through Fridays by appointment (8-5). Evening appointments may be available but will be scheduled at another facility on campus.
