Psi Chi Officers
Spring 2008

Sara Hughes
President
Year in school: Junior (graduating December 2009)
Interests (in psychology): I find it extremely difficult to narrow my interests to a few, but have never lost fascination with: personality, neuro, and abnormal psych—especially bipolar disorder, ADHD, and schizophrenia.
Future plans: I’m currently entertaining the idea of pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical, yet remain undecided.
Do you have Research Experience (Psy: 4990): Fortunately, I worked in Dr. Grice’s lab as a sophomore, investigating the predictive validity of his personality scaling technique: the Dynamic Analog Scale. I especially enjoyed his integration of the OCEAN personality traits into his comparative scaling technique. I currently work in Dr. Byrd-Craven’s lab, where we are measuring the effect of female interactions—namely co-rumination—on stress hormone responses. After reviewing the promising data we collected in the spring, I feel the clinical implications of the results may be groundbreaking!
Do you have Teaching Experience (Psy 3990): This summer I was Dr. Kennison’s TA for Developmental. She actually allowed me to make presentations, which was both terrifying and exciting, and even cured my fear of public speaking! I also received 3990 credit for being a counselor at Dr. Page’s “Summer Science Academy”.
Have you taken the GRE yet? No, I plan to take it next fall.
Other interesting things about yourself that you would like to share? I have difficulty NOT liking everyone I meet! I love the psychology field because it illuminates and embraces interpersonal differences, making it impossible to not understand people—at least to some degree.
Contact Info: sara.hughes@okstate.edu, (918)402-5486. I’m typically available weekdays after 6pm.
