The purpose of Lunch and Learn’s is to create a safe space for faculty, staff, and students to engage in critical dialogue around issues pertaining to diversity and equity. The goal is to move from theory to practice and ensure our department actively takes steps towards understanding how to create inclusive and safe academic spaces for students of color and students with marginalized identities.

Dec. 3, 2021 – This Year in Review, Lunch and Learn Style – During this L&L, we will briefly review each Lunch and Learn held during the Fall 2021 semester and open up the conversation to suggestions, likes, and dislikes from all of the L&L events during the semester.

All Interview Meetings will begin and end according to Central Standard Time.  

Informal Social Gathering with Current Graduate Students
Informal time to meet current graduate students from across programs. We also will include a brief tour of the city of Stillwater, as well as time for Q&A with current students.  This meeting is optional.

Q&A with Program Director
Recordings of presentations given by Dr. Stephanie Sweatt or Dr. Jennifer Byrd-Craven will be sent to each applicant in advance to be watched before Interview Day. Applicants to each program (Clinical and Experimental) will meet with the respective program director to discuss program specifics.

Group lab meeting
Formal interview with the faculty member of interest and their graduate students.
*Note, this does not apply to all of the experimental prospective students based on faculty preference.

Individual faculty meeting
Formal interview with faculty member of interest. Students will also interview with 1-2 additional faculty from a similar track.
*Note, this does not apply to all of the experimental prospective students based on faculty preference

Lab meetings
Meet with graduate students of intended lab and grad students of 1-2 additional labs.
*Note, this does not apply to all of the experimental prospective students based on faculty preference

Group meetings
Experimental students only – formal interview with multiple faculty members and applicants.

Lunch
Scheduled lunch break,on your own.

 Campus tour
Informal meeting to watch a brief video tour of OSU’s campus, as well as time for Q&A with current students.

Stillwater tour
Informal meeting to watch a brief video tour of Stillwater, as well as time for Q&A with current students.

Psychological services tour
Clinical students only.  Video tour of the Psychological Services Center where clinical students provide therapy, and Q&A session with PSC director and Assistant Directors.

Screen-Free Breaks from Meetings
These breaks are screen-free time away from your computer and downtime from interviewing.

Q&A with Department Head and Director of Graduate Studies
Recordings of presentations given by Dr. Maureen Sullivan, Department Head, and Dr. Baraldi, Director of Graduate Studies, will be sent to each applicant in advance to be watched before Interview Day. This Q&A Session will provide students an opportunity to ask questions and discuss funding or any other questions about the department.

Diversity and Climate Meeting
Informal meeting to discuss the climate and diversity, equity, and inclusion issues at Oklahoma State University. This is an optional meeting with current graduate students from the Student Diversity Committee and is non-valuative. Opportunities for anonymous Q&A will be offered. All prospective students are welcome.
