PSYC 3990 Teaching Assistant Summer & Fall 2009

Psyc 3990, section 353, offers undergraduates the opportunity to gain experience as a teaching assistant. Psyc 3990 may be taken for 1 - 3 credit hours, up to a maximum of six hours toward your degree. To apply for a position, please contact the faculty member with whom you wish to work with and see if he or she is willing to supervise you. If you are accepted for 3990, have the faculty supervisor sign a clearance form available here and return it to your advisor Silvia Daggy or Kevin Syemore.

Dr. Jared Dempseyneeds 1 TA to assist with Psychology 1113 (Introductory Psychology – Honors). TAs will attend class, hold office hours, proctor exams, hold review sessions, and assist with other teaching related tasks.

Dr. Shelia Kennison is seeking TAs for Psyc 1113 for Fall 09. TAs will attend one section of Psyc 1113, hold office hours, proctor exams, hold review sessions, and assist with other teaching related tasks. Because TA slots fill up quickly, it is wise to inquire about positions as much as one year in advance. Dr. Page Summer, 2009: needs 2-3 students interested in helping with her Summer Science Academy for high school students. It will be June 7-20. You should be available in the evenings from 4:30-11. You will be leading activities with 13-14 year old students. Please send Dr. Page a brief email stating your interest and qualifications. All students will be required to complete a brief in-person interview.

Dr. Page will need 2 teaching assistants per lab section of 3214. Look online for what times the labs are – you must attend lab. You should have taken 3214 and gotten an A or a B. You will also hold study sessions before the exams. We will meet monthly to discuss teaching related issues. Finally you will need to write a 3-5 page paper on some aspect of teaching. Fall, 2009.

Psyc 3990, section 2, is for those students working on a senior thesis (non-honors option). Contact a faculty member, preferably one with whom you've had 4990 experience, and find out if he or she would be willing to supervise your project.
